Wpromote just announced its acquisition of Metric Digital, a New York-based digital marketing agency specializing in paid social media, Google ads, Email, and performance creative services. The highly-anticipated acquisition, which closed on March 1, 2020, represents the continued expansion of Wpromote’s East Coast footprint and a significant increase in the agency’s stable of direct-to-consumer digital-native clients. With the acquisition, the Wpromote team has now grown to 500 employees martech news.
Wpromote’s Founder and CEO Michael Mothner gave further insight into the acquisition decision: “Metric Digital has become a go-to performance marketing agency for disruptor brands looking for sustainable growth in highly competitive industries, which makes them a perfect fit for fueling our Challenger Mindset and consumer first, data-centric methodology. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome them to the team martech.”
The excitement flows in both directions: “DTC is growing up and so is Metric Digital,” said Kevin Simonson, CEO of Metric Digital. “That means adding more technology and attribution resources as our clients’ marketing mixes get more complex and require more sophistication. We’re proud to be joining the Wpromote team to bring our perspective and execution capabilities to help larger brands compete with digitally native brands.”
Co-founded by CEO Kevin Simonson and John Pellinghelli in 2015, Metric Digital has earned a fierce reputation for scaling direct-to-consumer digital brands. They have recently broadened that mission by joining forces with non-digital natives focusing on better strategies to acquire new customers and increase lifetime value. Metric Digital’s core areas of expertise include paid social, paid search, email, and performance creative advertising. Their impressive client roster includes strong brands like Mizzen & Main, Sio Beauty, Vuori, and SoulCycle. Kevin Simonson will become Wpromote’s VP of Social and COO Ryan Markman will become VP of Strategic Operations.
This is the latest in a series of acquisitions for Wpromote that extends across the last four years, joining Standing Dog in Dallas, Prime Visibility in New York, DemandWave, and Growth Pilots, both in San Francisco.
The Metric Digital team is joining an organization that was singled out as a Best Place to Work in the US by Ad Age for the fourth time. Other recent accolades for Wpromote include being named Agency of the Year by Search Engine Land and the Leader in the Forrester Performance Marketing Agencies Wave, Q3 2019.
Garros Group served as the strategic and financial M&A advisor to Metric Digital in this transaction.
