Bayer announced today that Nicole Hayes, a senior communications leader, is joining the company as Director of U.S. External Communications responsible primarily for Media Relations.

Hayes, who officially joined Bayer yesterday, brings extensive agency and corporate communications and brand storytelling experience to Bayer. In her new role, Hayes will develop and drive an integrated strategy that leverages a compelling narrative, executive visibility and thought leadership to generate positive content in paid, earned, shared and owned channels.

Hayes will serve as one of the top external communications professionals for Bayer in the United States and report directly to Christopher Loder, Vice President and Head of External Communications for Bayer U.S.

“We are fortunate to have someone of Nicole’s knowledge and experience join our Bayer team,” Loder said. “Nicole has done stellar work overseeing high-profile consumer brands, and she will bring innovation and creativity to Bayer.”

Throughout her career, Hayes has designed, managed and executed strategic communications initiatives on behalf of organizations across the consumer health sector.

Prior to joining Bayer, Hayes helped lead external communications for The Bountiful Company, developing corporate and brand PR strategies and leading acquisition communications. Hayes garnered top-tier media coverage for the company and worked with C-suite executives on earnings announcements. In addition, Hayes supported internal communications efforts and served as an executive media trainer.

Hayes also worked at Toys “R” Us, overseeing all external communications for the company, and leading a team in the execution of numerous consumer-facing campaigns. While at Toys “R” Us, she managed media relations for the company’s Chapter 11 filing and liquidation and served as a company spokesperson in several high-profile media outlets.

“I am excited to join the Bayer communications team as it undergoes significant transformation to better serve the needs of our Pharmaceutical, Crop Science and Consumer Health divisions,” Hayes said. “I’m delighted to bring my extensive experience in consumer brands to this world-class company.”

A native New Jerseyan, Hayes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and a Minor in Journalism from Northeastern University.
