Panopto, the leading video management system provider, today announced that, amidst significant company growth, Dave Neway is joining the company as its Vice President of Marketing.

Neway brings a unique combination of marketing leadership, B2B expertise, and B2C brand experience to Panopto. Panopto’s video management system helps large enterprises and higher educational institutions build, manage, and search highly secure video libraries for a variety of uses, such as preserving institutional knowledge, training, remote work, distance learning, executive communication, and more.

Panopto is a pioneer in using artificial intelligence (AI) for its video management system, a significant area of expertise for Neway, as he most recently served as the head of marketing for IBM Watson Advertising and Weather. At IBM, he played an integral role in the brand launch of Watson Advertising while leading all go-to-market strategies for a suite of AI-powered solutions designed for the advertising ecosystem.

“Dave will be instrumental in helping us achieve our mission to help anyone share knowledge using video,” said Sean Gorman, Panopto’s Chief Operating Officer. “Like email, video is now a mission-critical way for organizations to communicate. On-demand video is the new document. It’s solving acute pain points within companies and universities, helping people to reclaim time.”

Neway will help build mainstream awareness for Panopto, and educate potential users about the virtuous cycle between video creation, discoverability, access, and measurement, which is the foundation for a successful enterprise video strategy. “Easy workflows are the key to using video effectively at scale, and Dave will help us drive awareness for these as well,” added Gorman.

“I’m excited to join Panopto because on-demand video is the way of the future,” said Neway. “It’s a highly flexible and extremely rich medium for communication because viewers can hear the tone and inflection in your voice, they can view it at a time and place that works best for them, and it can be searched and re-watched as needed,” said Neway. “I am eager to bring my experience and infatuation with customer behavior to Panopto. Its video management system has so many powerful features and integrations, and the company is truly committed to customer delight.”

Neway began his career in the music industry as a booking agent and artist manager, representing such performers as The New York Philharmonic, Joshua Bell, Itzhak Perlman, and the Seattle Symphony. From there, he moved on to Unilever, where he built iconic brands such as St. Ives, Klondike, and Good Humor ice cream through innovations in product and seasonal marketing as well as digital and social media. Later, as a leader in strategic solutions at Pandora, he helped to grow the CPG advertising category by 39%. Neway brought his wealth of experience to IBM in 2016 where he led a marketing team of 25, driving significant growth and relaunching the Watson Advertising brand in 2020.

Neway holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University in political science (cum laudewith Distinction & Honors in Major), and an MBA in marketing and management from Columbia Business School (with honors).
