AI Future

Communitech and CityAge announced they will host Securing Canada’s AI Future, on Nov. 19, 2024, at EY Tower in Toronto from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Focusing on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in Canada, the summit will set a blueprint for Canada’s AI leadership and highlight a commitment to ethical and responsible AI.

The event will unite entrepreneurs, thought leaders, policymakers, investors and researchers to discuss how to shape the future of AI. It will feature panels, keynote speakers and interactive workshops that will explore how to best form AI policy and regulation, catalyze AI adoption in Canada and invest in AI and Canada’s AI advantage.

“Communitech is excited to work with stakeholders across the regional and national AI ecosystem to ensure that Canada remains a global leader in AI,” said Kevin Tuer, Chief Technology Officer at Communitech. “The adoption of AI comes with both opportunities and challenges, so it is important to remain diligent as we build our action plan. This summit will strengthen our commitment to ethical and responsible AI design principles, helping Canadian businesses gain a competitive edge while empowering tech leaders to build trust in the future of AI in Canada.”

The event will feature a Fireside Chat with Francis Bilodeau, Associate Deputy Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, and a panel discussion on building competitive levers for AI leadership in Canada, moderated by Dr. Claudia Krywiak, President and CEO of Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI).

“Canada has a remarkable opportunity to lead in the global AI landscape, but we must act thoughtfully to balance rapid technological advancement with ethical responsibility,” said Claudia Krywiak, President and CEO of OCI. “Securing Canada’s AI future requires a collaborative approach, bringing together the best minds across sectors to drive innovation while building public trust. This summit is a crucial step in setting the foundation for responsible AI growth, where Canadian businesses and tech leaders can explore ways to harness AI’s transformative potential for a stronger, more competitive future.”

“Canada is at a pivotal moment in harnessing responsible AI for its economic security and prosperity in the coming decades. As many of our companies seek to leverage AI to boost productivity and compete globally, this summit is about acting decisively to define and promote our Canadian advantages, accelerate technology adoption, and secure an inclusive, ethical AI future,” said Andrew Matlock, Founder of Sitrus.
